Safe as Houses

Where does the saying “safe as houses” come from? To me, I interpret this with two simple facts.

Firstly, everyone needs to live somewhere and secondly Australia’s population (and housing demand) will always continue to grow.

When you combine those two factors it’s easy to see that investment in property is (in my opinion) the best way to build long term wealth.

The numbers don’t lie. The median house price across Australia has grown by 412% in the last 25 years.

When I hear stories that people passed up opportunities to buy a house for $40,000 in the 90’s I show them this graph. The look on their face says it all. But here’s the thing, this graph will continue to increase.

When you tell your grandchildren or great grandchildren you had the opportunity to buy an investment property for $600,000 and turned it down, they’ll likely show you the same graph and the same (if not more) growth.
